Australia v New Zealand Sevens Squad confirmed

The Australian Women’s and Men’s Sevens programs have today confirmed their squads ahead of their pre-Olympic tour to New Zealand.

In what will be their first international fixtures in nearly 500 days, both teams have taken a larger playing squad for the warm-up matches as they continue to refine preparations for the Tokyo Olympics.

The Men’s squad sees the inclusion of some familiar faces with Lewis Holland and Lachie Anderson re-joining the Seven’s program following on from the Harvey Norman Super Rugby AU season.

While the Women’s team are nearing full strength with Chloe Dalton set for a return to the gold jersey for the first time since 2017. The squad is also boosted by the inclusion of Wallaroo Lori Cramer, who has secured a contract with the national program ahead of the Games.

Rugby Australia’s Performance Manager Rugby Sevens, Scott Bowen said: “It’s great to have the opportunity to head across to New Zealand and play in some competitive matches.

“With nearly 500 days since our last international fixture for both Men’s and Women’s programs, the opportunity to get game time is invaluable.

“If you were to ask any of our players, they’d tell you that they’re the best in the world at training, so next weekend is an opportunity for both teams to apply their learnings and continue to build into the Olympics.”

The sides will play in a series of twelve matches over three days, replicating the format of the Olympics. Day two of the games will be played in conjunction with Harvey Norman Super Rugby Trans-Tasman, when the Auckland Blues take on the Waratahs at Eden Park.
