Stars Cowie joins the Flames

Former GB under 18 and 20 international, Jordan Cownie will be a new face on the Flames roster next season. The 25 year old forward spent his previous 3 Elite league campaigns with his hometown Dundee Stars, where his best season, in 2018-2019, saw him tally 14 goals and 33 points. The 5’9”, 170lb skater also had limited time with Glasgow Clan and Nottingham Panthers as a side gig during an extended English Premier League run with Milton Keynes Lightning between 2013 and 2017. In just under 200 Elite league starts, Cownie has 30 goals and 64 assists to go with 243 EPIHL appearances where he netted 69 times as part of a 211 point haul.

“I’m really excited and grateful to be joining the Flames,” said Cownie. “It’s a club I’ve always had a huge amount of respect from my early years in the EPL. I’ve heard nothing but great things about the town and supporters. Looking forward to this next chapter and can’t wait to get started in September.”

While in GB colours, Cownie posted 34 points in 25 appearances, making 15 starts with the U20’s and 10 with U18’s from 2011 through 2015. His national team stretch includes an U20 gold medal from 2014-2015 where he also picked up awards for best forward and team’s top player.

“It’s always great news to sign another quality British player, especially one with a lot of years still ahead,” said Paul Dixon.

“Jordan skates very well, competes hard, and you can put him on a line with just about anyone while asking him to play against top lines from any other team.”

“Jordan is a great addition to our new roster, and we look forward to getting him settled into his role here in Guildford.”
