Guildford Flames keep a clean sheet

Kevin Lindskoug made 42 saves for a shutout and the Flames scored in the 1st and a couple more in the 3rd to secure a 3-0 home win over Dundee Stars.

After killing an early penalty then going back on the offensive, Spectrum’s men got the breakthrough thanks to Jake Bolton at 10:42 and that was the only scoring across 20 minutes.

There was no scoring in the middle set despite Flames going to 3 consecutive powerplays.

Early in the 3rd, they extended when a Chris Gerrie deflection from in close offered a bit of breathing room and Levi Cable put them in command, ahead by the final 3 count, in the 47th minute.

“Obviously we are very happy to have the 2 points at home after dropping our last 2 here,” said Paul Dixon.

“Overall, I thought we played with a lot of zip, and we generated a good number of shots and chances. We might like to have the long powerplay stretch back in the 2nd period, but aside from that we are very happy with a win against a Dundee team that played pretty well. The scoreline on paper certainly favours us more than maybe it should based on how close the game actually was.”

“We will have a couple of days off now to rest a bit and then a short training week ahead of Wednesday’s trip into Nottingham.”
