Glasgow Clan 5 - 2 Manchester Storm

Glasgow Clan returned to winning ways with a hard fought victory over the Manchester Storm.

The Clan wasted no time at all in taking the game to the Storm. The opening goal of the game came after only 79 seconds. Nolan LaPorte was on hand to finish up after a nice move between Rasmus Bjerrum and Chad Rau.

The Storm were finding it hard to breakdown a solid Clan defence that was keeping Patrick Killeen's workload to a minimum.

Despite the Clan asking for a video review, a second goal was denied by a world class double save from Matt Ginn who sprawled himself across the goal line to stop the puck finding the back of the net when it looked to be a certain goal.

Into the second period, the Clan weren't hanging around and doubled the lead at 22:35. Mac Howlett got the final touch on a Matt Pufahl shot and the puck found its way past Matt Ginn. The officials checked the video review but the goal stood as Howlett scored his first ever inside the Braehead Arena.

The Storm rallied after falling two goals behind and Mario Puskarich had the deficit back at one when he scored at 25:58.

The Storm were clearly buoyed by their first goal and had the game level at 30:34. The puck was sent towards goal from the blue line and took many different bounces and turns before finding its way past Killeen. Back to square one as Finlay Ulrick was credited with the goal.

It took the Clan only 19 seconds to regain the lead as Bjerrum ensured that the Clan would take the lead going into the third period.

The Storm brought the pressure in the third period and Killeen pulled off a terrific saved to rival Ginn's from the first period.

It was a hammer blow the Storm's chances of taking something home from Glasgow when Mathieu Roy doubled the Clan's lead at 47:48. The Clan's defensive solidity paying off and taking their chances when it came down the other end of the ice.

Still, the Storm came looking for the goals to get them back into the game. Ginn was pulled in the final two minutes of the match but there was to be no more goals for Ryan Finnerty's side.

Bjerrum got his second goal of the night with an empty netter in the final minute of the game to secure both points for the Clan.

A big win for Coach Fitzgerlad and team who had to be at their best to see off a very game side.
