Flames sign-up Sweden's Kevin Lindskoug

Swedish Netminder Kevin Lindskoug will join the Flames for the 2020-2021 campaign. The 27-year-old transfers from Italian side Ritten/Renon where he posted a nearly 93 save percentage and 2.21 Goals Against Average while helping the club collect the Italian Supercup. The native of Trelleborg spent the term before that at Katowice in Poland where he backed the club to a Bronze Medal with a GAA under 2 and a 93.6 save percentage as follow up to the same placing in 2017-2018 with Danish side Rungsted.

“I am really happy to join Guildford,” offered Lindskoug. “I am Excited to meet my new teammates. I've heard the fans are great there and I'm looking forward to playing hockey again very soon.”

The 5’11”, 185lb stopper spent the bulk of his junior career at home before closing his development time with Muskegon Lumberjacks in the United States Hockey league in 2012-2013. He cleaned up the award presentations as the netminder with the top save percentage; selection to the 1st All-Star team; and the ‘Goaltender of the Year’ nod. From there he opened his pro account with 14 games in Sweden’s 2nd league at Rögle BK. He stayed in the Allsvenskan with back to back stints from 2014 to 2016 at IF Björklöven where he appeared 83 times and registered a 92 save percentage while never averaging above 2.5 goals against. 2016-2017 was his first senior appearance outside his homeland with Belarusian outfit Shakhter Soligorsk ahead of his Danish move.

“We tried to get Kevin on previous occasions but things have never worked out, so we are pleased to have finally been able to find a way to each be moving in the same direction at the same time,” explained Head Coach Paul Dixon.

“When we have spoken to people about Kevin they talk about his quality as a goaltender and his character as a great addition to the dressing room.”

“Kevin has had a phenomenal record in some excellent leagues, including an outstanding stretch for a couple of years in the Swedish Allsvenskan. He will be just 28 when the season starts so we expect that his good run of form for a consistently long period of time will follow him here.”
