Five Clan players selected for draft in EIHL series
The Elite Series draft saw five members from the Aspray Glasgow Clan picked to play by the four teams taking part in the competition next month.
Club captain Matt Haywood will be joining Manchester Storm for the competition, where he’ll link up with former Clan coach Ryan Finnerty and ex-teammate Zach Sullivan, who was one of his coach’s Protected Players.
Haywood was 17th overall pick as the four coaches revealed the make-up of their squads for the competition, which will take place in Nottingham’s Motorpoint Arena.
Also joining him at the Storm Shelter will be Craig Peacock, who was 10th overall pick in the draft and another former Clan favourite in Ben Davies.
Mac Howlett was picked up by Coventry Blaze coach Danny Stewart for his side, in 19th overall position and will go there after his spell in Germany with fourth tier side Weißwasser.
Jack Musil was selected to join Aaron Fox’s Sheffield Steelers side in 29th, as the first pick for their ‘taxi squad’, for injuries or if players need to sit out under COVID-19 Protocols.
These players will be invited to train with the teams when needed, and may be called up if players abroad are unable to return due to playoff commitments.
Liam Stenton, who made 10 appearances for Clan in 2019/20 will also be involved with Nottingham Panthers after being picked 31st overall by their Director of Hockey and another former Clan player in Guillaume Doucet.
