Crooks signs on for 2nd season

27 year old forward Jamie Crooks will return to the Guildford Flames ice hockey for a 2nd season. The 5’10”, 180lb forward had 22 goals and 42 points in 63 starts during last season’s Patton Conference capture.

“I’m very excited to re-join the Flames for another season,” said Crooks. “My first year was really enjoyable and I’m looking forward to the start of the new season in Guildford.”

The Canadian joined the Flames after 5 seasons with University of Alberta Golden Bears where he helped the club to 3 National championships. In 150 games, including playoffs, the native of Vermilion, Alberta posted 75 goals and 129 points. In addition to significant team success, Crooks collected individual honours when he received a Canada West conference All-Rookie Team nod in 2013-2014 before adding on a 2016-2017 conference 2nd All-Star team selection.

Prior to his Green and Gold career, Crooks iced 4 full seasons of Major Junior in the Western Hockey League with Chilliwack Bruins and Victoria Royals. His best season came in 2011-2012 when he was nearly a point a game pace with 37 goals and 67 points in 72 games. His Jr. career spanned 293 games and closed with 111 goals and just shy of 200 points.

“The success Jamie had had prior to his arrival didn’t immediately translate to a different country, and a different kind of game on a larger ice surface, so the early part of the season was probably pretty frustrating for him,” admitted Paul Dixon.

“He never gave up on himself, and eventually it all came together for him and he put in a very strong 2nd half of the season.”

“His experience with us last year should be very valuable in allowing him to get off to a quicker start, and he was a great fit in the team so we are very happy that he wanted to come back again with a familiar group to help see where this team can go.”
