Cheif's Chalmers happy with opening game


Aspray Glasgow Clan Chief Operating Officer Gareth Chalmers was delighted to be able to attend the EIHL fixtures meeting last week.

After all the uncertainty over the past twelve months, all ten EIHL clubs attended the meeting to agree on a schedule for a 2021/22 season.

Chalmers is happy with the club’s schedule in challenging circumstances and believes the Purple Army will be excited by the home opener.

“After what we’ve all been through over the past year, especially the Clan, it’s the most excited I’ve ever been to attend the fixtures meeting” said Chalmers.

“It was great and very positive to meet up with the nine other clubs and spend ten hours working through a whole schedule for the new season.

“Once we’re in a position to go public with the schedule, I know the fans will be very excited by our home opener, it will certainly create a buzz for our homecoming.”

While the constructive and positive negotiations with Global Mutual regarding Braehead Arena are still ongoing, Chalmers said it is imperative the club make as many plans as possible ahead of a new season.

“I can appreciate people will be questioning why we are attending a fixtures meeting, when the future of Braehead Arena remains unresolved” said Chalmers.
