Mennie returns for Tigers clash

West End Redbacks paceman Joe Mennie is set to play his first Marsh Sheffield Shield match of the summer against Tasmania from Monday.

The two-time Neil Dansie Medallist has recovered from a hamstring strain sustained in South Australia’s one-day clash with the Tigers at Karen Rolton Oval in late September

Mennie, 30, replaces Travis Head in the 12-player squad with the Redbacks captain joining wicketkeeper-batsman Alex Carey for Australia A’s tour match against Pakistan in Perth.

Left-hand batsman Jake Lehmann will lead the side in Head’s absence.

The clash with Tasmania is South Australia’s last home Shield fixture before the Big Bash break.

Play begins from 10:30am local time on Monday, 11 November at Adelaide Oval. Entry is free.

The Redbacks’ final XI will be named at the toss.
