Devine decides on Scorchers

The Adelaide Strikers extend their thanks to Sophie Devine after it was revealed she will be joining the Perth Scorchers ahead of rebel WBBL|06.

The 30-year old was an inaugural Striker and has now decided to continue her Big Bash career in Perth.

SACA CEO Keith Bradshaw said:

“It has been a fantastic five years and we would like to thank Sophie for her immeasurable contribution not only to the Strikers but women’s cricket generally.

“We understand her decision to make a sea change and wish her well.”

Devine helped Adelaide to their maiden Final appearance last season alongside Strikers captain and New Zealand teammate Suzie Bates.

“I’ve loved my time at the Adelaide Strikers and wanted to thank everyone: the players, staff and incredible fans, for making it feel like a second home,” Devine said.

“This is a move that is right for me at this stage, and I’m looking forward to a new and exciting challenge with the Perth Scorchers.”

Devine held a Western Australia State contract in 2019-20 where she played in four Women’s National Cricket League matches after spending the southern winter training at the WACA.
