England name 7s squad for London tournament

Head coach Tony Roques has named his England squad for this weekend’s London 7s (Twickenham Stadium, 28-29 May).

Drawn in Pool D, England take on Scotland, Japan and Samoa.

There’s one change from the squad who travelled to Toulouse last weekend as Charlton Kerr comes in for the injured Jamie Barden.

Alex Davis captains the side while Jamie Adamson, Api Bavadra, Blake Boyland, Joe Browning, Max Clementson, Will Homer, Hayden Hyde, Calum Randle and Freddie Roddick are set for their London 7s debuts.

There’s still time to secure your seat for this weekend’s event, tickets are available here.

Roques said: “We’re all looking forward to London 7s.

“Having had time to reflect on Toulouse I was pleased with the performances overall, especially against the USA where we showed good quality.

“We’re gutted for Jamie Barden who misses out but are pleased to welcome Charlton Kerr back into the group. He’s established on the circuit having represented England Sevens previously and has impressed while training with us in recent weeks.

“It’s the first time a number of these players have played at London 7s. Playing at Twickenham in front of a home crowd is a huge honour for any player and we as a staff and player group are all excited for this weekend.”
