Aussie 7s through to quarter-finals in Canada

The Qantas Australian Men’s Sevens team is through to the quarter finals of the Canada Sevens in Vancouver having accounted for Scotland, Samoa and the USA to go undefeated and top Pool D.

Australia will play England in the Quarter Finals at 6.03am AEDT on Sunday 9 March.
Australia was impressive in its three victories, with strong performances from Lachie Miller and Lewis Holland leading the way for an impressive Australia attack.

The victory over the USA was the second in as many weeks with the Aussie 7s knocking the Americans out of top Pool position in the USA and Canada Sevens.

Qantas Australian Men’s Sevens Head Coach Tim Walsh said: “A pleasing first day and playing well just sets you up for day two.

“Our defence strategy was well executed and provided us with plenty of ball to attack with.

“Lachie Miller is complimenting Maurice Longbottom very well, but I have been really impressed with Lewis Holland. He has pulled the strings and kicked well - basically providing opportunities for other players on the team.”

Lewis Holland became the most capped player in the Aussie 7s, having surpassed Ed Jenkins with 52 caps.
