Spain U20s 3-4 GB U20s (after penalty shots)


Great Britain U20s stayed in the hunt for the medals as they beat Spain U20s 4-3 after a thrilling penalty shootout in the Under-20 World Championship Division II Group A in Vilnius.
After GB took a three-goal lead, Spain scored three goals in seven minutes to tie the game at the second intermission. In the shootout, Tyler Perre was not beaten by any of the four attempts on him as GB grabbed the extra point.

Alex Graham got the final touch to Tyler Cooper's shot from the left circle to put GB ahead with the only goal of the first period (8:10).

GB scored twice in 70 seconds in session two as Zach Milton broke two-on-one and scored from the left circle (23:34), while a great skate by Cade Neilson sets up Cooper at the backdoor on the powerplay (24:44).

Spain pulled a goal back with Marc Layola's turn and shot from the left circle (26:51) and Oscar Rubio cut inside from the right to make it a one-goal game (35:17), while Layola's fine solo goal levelled the scores (39:29).

After a scoreless third period and overtime, Alderson Biddulph and Milton scored in the shootout as GB secured their third successive victory.

GB play their final game on Sunday when they face Serbia at 12noon (10am UK time).
