Glasgow Clan re-sign Canadian Stevenson
The Glasgow Clan, sponsored by Aspray Glasgow West, are delighted to announce the signing of Canadian forward Dyson Stevenson.
The 28-year-old will be making his first move outside North America as he gets ready to come to Glasgow and help the Clan in their Elite League push this season.
And he revealed the main reason why coming to Glasgow was for him as he adds to the offensive options for the club.
“I’ve been looking to come overseas for a while so when I heard Malcolm Cameron got the job over there, I was interested straight away,” he said.
“I spoke with guys like Jacob Doty and Joel Rumpel, who played there and spoke highly of their time, plus having a coach you can trust. It’s an exciting opportunity.
“I play a hard style of hockey where I stick up for my team-mates and admittedly, can get into a few scraps. I’ve heard the team is all about working hard and it’s a perfect fit for me.
“It’s also great to know I have a coach who can trust me plus I’ve heard Scotland is a beautiful place so I wanted to get out and travel and play while I’m doing it.
“I want to win and from what I’ve seen, there’s a group of guys all want to do the same so I’m excited for the chance to come over.”
Stevenson can play on the wing or in the centre and has just under 400 games of EIHL experience in seven seasons.
He’ll be reunited with former coach Cameron, with whom he worked at WHL side Regina Pats between 2011 and 2014 then again at Wichita Thunder between 2017 and 2019, where he was captain.
The six-footer is also a two-time EIHL Kelly Cup winner with Allen Americans in 2015 and 2016 and returned there last season, where he played 41 times, scoring six and assisted in 10.
He ended 2020/21 with his hometown team, Shaunavon Badgers of the White Mud Hockey League where a three-game stint yielded four goals and 11 assists - five points per game.

“Dyson is the ultimate team guy,” he said. "I had the pleasure of coaching him for three years and got to watch him grow from a young man into a mature adult.
“He was the captain of my team in Wichita and the anchor of our powerplay. He’ll stand up for his team-mates, he’ll block shots and does the dirty things a coach loves and players respect.
“He also scores big goals, plays in both special teams and is a tremendous leader off the ice and in the locker room. I’m pleased to bring him to the Clan.”
Stevenson is Clan’s 20th signing 2021/22 after Shane Starrett, Colin Campbell, Rodney Southam, Matt Haywood, Jordan McLaughlin, Mathieu Roy, Medric Mercier, Nolan LaPorte, Colton Yellow Horn, Jordan Buesa, Cody Sol, Mikko Vainonen, Jamie Crooks, Reece Cochrane, Guillaume Gauthier, Harry Ferguson, Tim Shoup, Quinn O’Brien and Brook Beukeboom.
He will wear the #26 jersey this season.
