Scott Tanski's late goal secured Glasgow Clan the intu Cup to complete the weekend of action against German side EHC Freiburg.
After Saturday's 3-2 success over Pete Russell's men, both teams went at it again and showed good energy in the opening period as they looked to complete the weekend with something to show for their efforts.
Freiburg's best chance came when Sebastian Christmann's attempted effort spooned up and over the shoulder of Patrick Killeen, the Clan goalie. Luckily, Killeen reacted quickly to kill it after it had bounced off his near post.
The home side got the breakthrough a few minutes later when Jordan Heywood's pass picked out Travis Ehrhardt, who burst forward through the Freiburg zone and delivered an excellent shot to beat Ben Meisner in the away goal for the lead.
Peter Spornberger made a couple of good chances to keep Killeen on his toes in the second period and Freiburg's pressure paid off when they eventually got themselves an equaliser.
Set up by Phillip Reissle, Spiro took the puck on down the left to create himself a pathway, firing his shot into the roof of the level the game up.
Clan went close in response when Scott Tanski nicked the puck on the right and set up Matt Haywood, but Ben Meisner was there to sweep up for Freiburg.
The game moved into the third period with the fans no clearer on how things were going to go, but Freiburg upped the ante when they took the lead with five minutes to go.
A Mikael Lidhammar chance up one end saw the Germans quickly break down the other as Pither set up Spiro to finish his second of the game.
Clan were back on level terms for the night a minute from the final buzzer as Craig Peacock's shot found Scott Tanski to deliver the finish from close range.
The home side had secured the intu Cup on aggregate, but both teams opted to play out a penalty shots contest that saw Clan give chances to youngsters Mac Howlett, Liam Stenton and Ruari Lockerbie.
The decisive one came from Pither, who scored the only one of the contest for Freiburg to win that particular battle.
