Dundee Stars 3 - 2 Glasgow Clan

A Scott Pitt goal gave Glasgow Clan a late lifeline, but it wasn't enough as Dundee Stars hung on to take a 3-2 victory.

Clan were looking to bounce back following the 8-6 loss to Coventry Blaze and were back in a venue where they suffered a poor night at the start of the season.

Revenge may have been on the minds of the Clan players and with more games played by both teams down the line, it promised to be a very different game.

The home side had some early pressure as they seemed to get a jump on the Glasgow players, hitting the post in the opening exchanges, but Patrick Killeen and the defence stayed firm.

Some good link up play between Rasmus Bjerrum and Nolan LaPorte almost yielded a goal, but the chance was close.

Dundee were the team to open the scoring after eight minutes when a chance was sent in from Justin Maylan, with Colton Kroeker on hand to deliver the final touch.

Clan had barely recovered when Stars notched themselves a second 35 seconds later as Jordan Cownie scored against his former team, with some help from Egils Kalns in the assist.

Omar Pacha's team had a spell of pressure that saw Glasgow pegged back in their own zone, but managed to weather that particular storm.

A chance near the end of the first period looked threatening as a shot straight from face off needed Killeen to kill it with an excellent catch.

Stars' speed caught the Clan out on numerous occasions as they looked for a third goal that would make things a little more comfortable for them.

Travis Ehrhardt and Jack Musil managed to find themselves in an advanced position, but the finish didn't live up to expectations.

Dundee pushed again and finally managed to get that third on the board as Elgin Pearce added to the home side's tally, making Glasgow's life a little more difficult.

Jordan Heywood managed to pull one back with three minutes to go in the second to give Zack Fitzgerald's men a lifeline as Clan went into the third period with a glimmer of hope.

Ehrhardt tried one from just inside the blue line, but Alex Leclerc saw it well to kill the puck with a solid save, with Musil trying another one a couple of minutes later, but again to no avail.

Clan pushed and pushed in the final session in an attempt to get something on the board, but nothing seemed to be going in for them.

Scott Pitt scored from close range to close the gap to one with a minute to go as tension in the room rose.

Dundee thought they'd added a fourth on the empty net, but an incident between Mathieu Roy and Stars' Elgin Pearce was called back and the goal was chopped off.
