WA Squad for Marsh cup Match

WA have named a squad stacked with international firepower as they look to win a spot in Sunday’s Marsh Cup Final.

Six of the WA players involved in Australia’s T20 Series in New Zealand last month have been selected for the final match of the home and away season.

Ashton Agar, Jason Behrendorff, Josh Philippe, Mitch Marsh, D’Arcy Short and Ashton Turner have all been named in their first One-Day Domestic squad of the season, while David Moody and Lance Morris have also been named.

WA will likely need to win with a bonus point to leapfrog Queensland into second spot on the table and earn the opportunity to defend their One-Day title.

The blockbuster additions will complement a WA squad that is in red-hot form after thrashing Victoria by 170 runs in their most recent outing.

On that occasion Josh Inglis smashed 91 from just the 57 deliveries to steamroll Victoria, while Shaun Marsh and Cameron Green both notched List-A centuries this season.

WA have seven wins in their last eight One-Day Cup outings against Tasmania; their last defeat against the Tigers coming in October 2015.

Matt Kelly and Joel Paris have been ruled out of the match due to injuries sustained in this week’s Sheffield Shield match.

Joel suffered a moderate grade left groin strain that will require approximately three weeks of rehabilitation, while Matt has a right shoulder labral injury that will require 3-4 weeks of rehabilitation. As a result both are unavailable for selection in tomorrow’s One-Day Cup match.
