Perth Scorchers squad announcement

The Perth Scorchers announce one change to their 13 player squad for this weekends rebel Women’s Big Bash League matches in Adelaide.

Fast bowler Piepa Cleary has been ruled out for the rest of the WBBL season after suffering a serious leg injury last weekend.

Head Coach Lisa Keightley said it was disappointing to lose a talented player for the rest of the campaign.

“We’re all gutted for Piepa, she hasn’t had much luck with injury over the last few years,” she said.

“It’s awful to see any player go down with a serious injury, Piepa is a big loss for us and she’ll be hard to cover.

“Piepa has had a good 12 months on and off the field with Western Australian cricket and I have no doubt she will bounce back.”

Kath Hempenstall comes into the squad and could make her Scorchers debut, while former Adelaide Striker Samantha Betts could also gain her first cap against her old side.
