Do Bess on loan to Yorkshire

Somerset spinner Dom Bess will be joining Yorkshire Vikings on a one-month loan deal which will see him representing the white-rose county in this year’s Vitality Blast.

The deal will run from July 17th to August 16th, giving the 21-year-old the opportunity to play in a maximum of 10 Vitality Blast fixtures in the North Group of the competition.

Once the loan agreement has come to an end, Dom will return to Taunton and will be available for selection for Somerset’s next Specsavers County Championship match against Warwickshire at Edgbaston which begins on Sunday August 18th.

After announcing the deal Somerset Director of Cricket, Andy Hurry said: “We have seen already this year how the loan system can be extremely beneficial for us. Dom Bess and Jamie Overton spent some time away from Taunton and they’ve come back into the fold with some good yardage in their legs, which has been the perfect preparation for getting them back in to the First XI. We are reaping the rewards of that now because both players have been exceptional for us since their return.

“This agreement with Yorkshire will provide us with the opportunity to see how Dom performs in this format within the intensity of the First XI arena.

“We wish him well and look forward to welcoming him back in time for our next Championship match.”
