Margie Engle Named Martha Jolicoeur Leading Lady Rider

The reigning Martha Jolicoeur Overall Leading Lady Rider from 2018, Engle is taking aim at the title once again during this year’s WEF, running through March 31. Engle and her veteran mount, Royce, jumped to a top-five finish in the $72,000 CSI4* Equinimity WEF Challenge Cup Round 4 on Thursday, January 31, before earning sixth place in Saturday’s featured grand prix. Points from the two top placings combined to clinch the Leading Lady Rider title.

“I think it’s great that Martha acknowledges the leading lady rider and provides us with such nice prizes that I would never get for myself,” said Engle, who enjoyed her first facial thanks to a previous Martha Jolicoeur Leading Lady Rider Award prize. “It’s always an honor to receive this award.

“This was Royce’s first outing this year and he felt nice and fresh,” continued Engle, who recently gave her 15-year-old Oldenburg stallion (Cafe Au Lait x Grandilot) a break from competition. “He felt fantastic and happy to be back.”

For her WEF 4 title, Jolicoeur presented Engle with a bottle of champagne, bouquet of flowers, and gift certificate for a shopping spree at Hunt, Ltd.

“I have many friends who shop for me because they are much better at it than I am, so they will enjoy using this!” concluded Engle.

A leading South Florida real estate broker and part of the elite Douglas Elliman Real Estate Sports and Entertainment division, Jolicoeur has supported WEF as an integral sponsor for the past nine consecutive years. Throughout WEF, the Martha Jolicoeur Leading Lady Rider Award, given in memory of fellow realtor and horseman Dale Lawler, is presented weekly to the high-score female rider based on performances in the weekly WEF Challenge Cup Series and grand prix events.

During the 12th and final week of WEF, the Martha Jolicoeur Overall Leading Lady Rider Award will be presented to the female rider who accumulates the most points throughout the 2019 season.
