Glasgow Clan 5 - 3 Guildford Flames

The Flames 6 game winning run came to a halt on Saturday night on the road when Glasgow Clan scored a couple of times in the 3rd to break up a 3-3 tie while delivering a 5-3 defeat of Spectrum’s men.

An early Clan goal from Rasmus Bjerrum had them in a lead that they held to the close of play in the frame.

Ian Watters pulled the visitors level at 34:04, but Guillaume Doucet nearly immediately put Clan back in front when he replied less than 90 seconds later. A last-minute strike by Vaclav Stupka had the Scottish club enjoying a 2-goal margin, but seconds later, and just 13 ticks from the end of the period, Kruise Reddick answered to ensure the Flames would be just 1 goal adrift to start the 3rd.

Less than 3 minutes after re-start, Brett Ferguson had the clubs square on 3 goals apiece, but Matt Beca put the home team back in front at 47:53 and a late powerplay add on by Doucet closed out the final count despite final stretch 6 on 3 Flames chance with their net empty on top of a short 5 on 3 manpower differential and another inside the last minute that failed to connect.

“It was good work for us to come back from being a couple of goals down,” said Paul Dixon, “but we couldn’t find a way to get in front.”

“We have had a pretty good stretch of late, and you are not going to win every night, so we are going to have to re-group, and see if we can turn this around tomorrow night when they have to visit us.”

“Other than early in the 1st, I thought we played well tonight, and at the end of the day Glasgow is simply too good for us to have expected to be 5-0 against this season and win every game in their building. At the beginning of the season we would take a 4 and 1 record in the first 5 head to head so now we just look to the next chance.”
