The Glasgow Clan came up short, but provided a much improved performance despite going down 4-2 to Cardiff Devils.
After being shutout by the Devils on Sunday, it was a chance for Clan to put that right in front of a big crowd and a televised audience.
The home side's best chance came after eight minutes when Scott Pitt set up Matt Beca, who rifled a shot from the centre, which was saved by Cardiff goalie Ben Bowns.
The puck broke for Tyson Wilson, who followed up with a rebound, but was denied by Bowns' left hand post and Cardiff could breathe a sigh of relief.
Layne Ulmer's shot from the slot needed a strong save from Joel Rumpel in the Clan goal, while Joey Haddad saw the puck bounce off him at one stage, with the Clan defence scoop it away from danger.
The visitors got the only goal of the first period when a blue line shot from Bryce Reddick found a way, into via Mike Hedden who got the final touch to divert it into the net.
Cardiff moved up another gear and were ruthless as they delivered two quick goals early in the second period to put them very much in control.
Charles Linglet and Matt Pope combined to allow Stephen Dixon the final touch from close range to allow the visitors to move two ahead.
Then a turnover released Drew Schiestel down the right, delivering a low diagonal shot that fizzed past Rumpel and into the net.
Clan got one back as Pitt set up Beca, who scored a low shot to beat Bowns, ensuring the home side wouldn't be shut out on this occasion.
But another from Dixon opened a three-goal lead as Rumpel saved the initial shot from Hedden, allowing Devils' forward to get his second of the night.
Clan got another one on the board through Scott Pitt with a tap-in to close the gap again, but despite pressure in the third frame, couldn't find a way through, with the Devils standing firm to take the points.
