Sixers bolster squad with England international James Vince

The Sydney Sixers are delighted to announce the signing of England international batter James Vince for the remainder of the KFC Big Bash.

The captain of Hampshire County Cricket Club in England, Vince was recently plying his trade with the Auckland Aces in New Zealand and will join up with his new Sixers teammates in Perth, ahead of the clash against Perth Scorchers on Sunday 13 January at Optus Stadium.

Vince will take the place of fellow England international Joe Denly who has been called up to represent his country against the West Indies later this month.

At 27-years old, Vince has represented England in all formats of the game and will bring a wealth of experience and firepower to the Sixers batting line-up for the remaining seven BBL I 08 group matches, which also includes five matches at the SCG.

A consistent performer with the bat, his impressive form for his county saw him selected in England's 2017/18 Ashes squad.

On signing for the Sixers, Vince said “I’m extremely excited about joining up with the Sixers. The Big Bash is a fantastic competition to be a part of. The guys are playing some great cricket at the minute and are in a strong position heading into the second half of the tournament.”

“Hopefully I can hit the ground running and make some good contributions that will help us go all the way this year. Sydney is a fantastic place and the SCG is an incredible ground, I can’t wait to get started.”

Sydney Sixers General Manager Jodie Hawkins added “We are looking forward to James joining the Sixers as a replacement for Joe Denly. James is a quality cricketer and will bring experience to our batting line up, alongside Moises Henriques, Jordan Silk and Dan Hughes. He is also a great guy and will fit into the team well both on and off the field.”
